Dental Implants

Dental implants are a modern solution for missing teeth. They are based upon small titanium bodies with artificial high-tech tooth roots that become a part of the jaw. They provide a stable base for single-tooth crowns, larger bridges or dentures.

Implants have a completely natural tooth feel, they alleviate the problems of loose or embarrassing dentures and do not necessitate damaging adjacent teeth to fix bridges.
Adequate healthy bone must be available to support an implant and the oral environment should be free of any uncontrolled disease.

If insufficient bone is available, predictable techniques for bone augmentation are available.

The implant is placed atraumatically into the jaw using local anaesthetic. A healing period of around 8 weeks follows, while the bony attachment matures. Impressions are then taken for fabrication of the tooth, bridge or denture.

The surgery is pain free, but slight swelling or soreness will be experienced for one to two days after implant placement.

Agis works very closely with a highly skilled and experienced dental technician who employs the latest techniques and technology in the production of the teeth supported by your implants. We will often arrange an individual consultation with our technician to customise your dental solution. Only the highest quality implants and components are used. Agis uses predominantly XiVE ® (Dentsply)  which is a market leader in the development of dental implant systems.

Implant Patient Journey

Initial consultation

Whether you are referred by your own dentist or simply decide yourself that you would like to know more about how dental implants could benefit you, the first step is to arrange your initial consultation. Call us on 01865 515755 or email us info@oakthorpedental.co.uk to book your appointment with Agis Patsourakos

Agis will carefully listen to your concerns and wishes, thoroughly appraise your dental health and explain to you in a clear and concise manner whether or not dental implant treatment would work for you. This first meeting is intended to be a fact finding session, so that you can gather as much information as you need to make an informed choice. Agis will also outline the procedure for dental implants, the time frames and relevant costs for treatment.

Suitability

Before a final decision is made about the type of treatment most suitable for you, it is often necessary to gather more precise information in the form of radiographs (xrays), photographs, models and occasionally CT scans. None of this would be undertaken without you having a clear understanding of the costs involved. The planning stage of dental implant treatments is the most important stage. Thorough gathering of relevant information and meticulous planning ensures smooth treatment progression and a predictable outcome.

Definitive treatment plan

Once all the necessary information has been gathered and assessed, Agis will discuss the various treatment solutions relevant to your dental situation. Together you will be able to compare the merits and costs of a dental implant treatment. This will be followed by a written treatment plan.

Fixed fee quotation

Agis believes that from the outset, it is essential that you are fully informed of the cost of your treatment. He will provide a clear, written, fixed quotation for your completed dental implant treatment.

Treatment Provision

When all information has been gathered and a definitive treatment plan agreed, the treatment appointments will be booked. Agis will explain what you can expect at each stage of treatment and the time frames between stages. The team at Oakthorpe Dental will do everything they can to ensure that your treatment progresses in a calm and predictable fashion.

Aftercare

The care of your dental implant solution is paramount in ensuring a long term, predictable outcome. Agis and our team will make sure that you are fully versed in all aspects of caring for your implant treatment.
