Beware….”No Added sugar” means there is still sugar!
We wanted to bring up this topic as we are asked the following question regularly;
“Am I okay to drink sugar-free cordial/ drinks?”
Drinks that claim “zero sugar” means there is either zero sugar or artificial sweeteners which do not cause decay.
Drinks that claim no added sugar do in fact still already contain natural sugar but none has been added & regular consumption of these drinks would still increase your risk of developing decay.
The overall message is to reduce frequency of sugary intakes (via food or drink) throughout the day.
Even healthy food and drinks can be sugary and harmful like fruits, and cereal bars as they contain natural sugars like fructose leads to a higher risk of decay.

The whole team at Oakthorpe Dental offers warm and welcoming care and a highly professional
service. Seetal is, in my opinion, the best dentist I have ever had. She is calm, gentle and
demonstrably expert, I have complete trust in her.
So much so, that when my husband was looking for a dentist (his practitioner retired), he was only
too happy to register with Seetal, based on my experiences, and reports the same positive
experience!
