Beware….”No Added sugar” means there is still sugar!
We wanted to bring up this topic as we are asked the following question regularly;
“Am I okay to drink sugar-free cordial/ drinks?”
Drinks that claim “zero sugar” means there is either zero sugar or artificial sweeteners which do not cause decay.
Drinks that claim no added sugar do in fact still already contain natural sugar but none has been added & regular consumption of these drinks would still increase your risk of developing decay.
The overall message is to reduce frequency of sugary intakes (via food or drink) throughout the day.
Even healthy food and drinks can be sugary and harmful like fruits, and cereal bars as they contain natural sugars like fructose leads to a higher risk of decay.

I called up first thing in the morning for an emergency appointment and was able to be seen that
day. Kaylee clearly talked me through options and prices on the phone and then on arriving at the
practice was lovely and welcoming. I was seen on time and the dentist I saw, Kate Anderson, talked
my through all my options, provided advice and reassurance. The care from everyone I interacted
with, made such a difference and would strongly recommend them.
